Bone Stress Injury Treatment

Protect Healing Restore Movement
Bone stress injuries often occur after sudden increases in running volume, running on harder surfaces, or prolonged periods on concrete. Pain is usually localised and aggravated by impact. We’ll protect the site, maintain fitness sensibly, and guide a stepwise return to walking, work and sport.
Understanding Bone Stress Injuries
Bones adapt to load, but they need time and recovery to do so. When training or occupational demands rise faster than your body can adjust, the bone’s repair cycle falls behind, and irritation develops. During your assessment, we identify the site and likely contributors—such as training rhythm, footwear, calf and foot strength, gait mechanics, sleep, and nutrition—then outline a plan that respects healing while avoiding unnecessary deconditioning.
A Phased Plan You Can Follow
Early care reduces impact on the sensitive site and prioritises pain-calm daily activity.
Off-feet conditioning (bike, pool, upper-body work) keeps you moving while we build strength in the calf–foot–hip system and address gait or workplace demands.
As tenderness settles and walking is comfortable, we add controlled marching, brisk walking and short exposure to impact, progressing only when your clinical markers and next-day response are appropriate.
This keeps progress steady and transparent.
