Disc Injury Treatment
In Mill Park
Support, Space, Stronger Backs
Disc-related pain can feel sharp with certain bends, stiff after sitting, or achy into the buttock or thigh. We’ll calm the irritated tissues, restore movement you can trust and rebuild strength so sitting, lifting, and longer days feel doable again.
Understanding Disc-Related Pain
Discs are robust, living structures that can become sensitised with sustained postures, sudden loads or a run of poor sleep and stress. Changes on scans don’t always equal pain. What matters is how your back behaves with specific movements and loads. We’ll map your triggers, test range and control, and explain which positions provide relief so you can keep moving safely while things settle.
Our Approach To Disc Injuries
We begin with strategies that ease symptoms—comfortable positions, brief movement “resets,” and hands-on techniques to reduce guarding and restore glide. Then we layer in hinge skills, trunk endurance and hip strength to spread load away from the sore segment.
Progressions are staged: first quality through range, then controlled strength, and finally the tasks that matter to you—floor-to-stand, stairs, carries and the occasional long drive without payback.
Early helpers we often use:
Positioning that unloads the sore segment (supported prone/supine)
Short mobility sets to break up long sits or stands
Hip-hinge practice so lifting feels safer and smoother
Why Choose Physium For Disc Care
You’ll get a realistic plan that favours steady wins over quick fixes. Because hands-on treatment, Clinical Pilates and a rehab gym are on site, we can move from relief to capacity in one place. Imaging is used thoughtfully; if it won’t change decisions, we won’t push it. When needed, we liaise with your GP or surgeon and support NDIS goals focused on mobility, transfers and community participation.

Back To What Your Day Demands
Once symptoms are calmer, we practise the real movements your week requires—lifting at work, longer sits, gardening, floor play with kids—so strength shows up where you need it most. Clear milestones help you see progress and avoid slipping back into over-protection.
Keeping Discs Happy Long Term
Discs love variety and rhythm. We’ll build a routine that mixes movement, strength and sensible breaks so your back stays ready for busy weeks, not just good days. If life throws a curveball, you’ll know how to adjust load without losing momentum.
