Sever’s Disease Treatment

Active Kids Happy Heels
Sever’s disease (calcaneal apophysitis) is a growth plate irritation at the back of the heel, commonly found in active children.
Sprinting, jumping, and barefoot dashes can be painful, and mornings or after-school sessions often exacerbate the discomfort. We’ll reduce irritation, keep them participating where safe, and build the calf–foot system so school sports feel manageable again.
What Sever’s Actually Is
As kids grow, their bones lengthen quickly, and the calf–Achilles unit can feel “tight,” placing an extra pull on the heel growth plate. Hard surfaces, rapid training spikes, minimalist shoes at school or sudden season changes all add load. We’ll confirm the pattern (and rule out other causes of heel pain), check ankle range, calf strength, and landing control, then set simple rules for training blocks and busy school days so symptoms don’t recur.
Settle Pain Without Stopping Sport
Early care focuses on comfort and practical routines, including short pre-play calf prep, supportive footwear for school days, and, if necessary, temporary heel lifts or padding.
We keep movement going with low-irritation activities while strength begins—calf holds through a tolerable range, balance that doesn’t provoke, and easy landing practice.
Parents get clear guidance on when to cut back, when to hold steady and how to build back without chasing flare-ups.
Why Families Choose Physium
We maintain a friendly and realistic approach for children. With personalised care alongside a rehabilitation gym, we transform small daily efforts into confidence in sports and play. If adjustments to footwear or advice from a podiatrist would be beneficial, we will coordinate efficiently. Most cases do not require imaging. If the situation is unique, we will quickly involve your general practitioner and clearly explain the next steps.

Keep Them Moving Comfortably
A few smart changes—supportive shoes for long days, gentle pre-session prep and sensible game minutes—make sport feel possible while the heel calms.
Return To School Sport Smoothly
We widen activity as morning pain eases and post-session soreness shortens. Running drills and jumps are introduced in small, predictable increments, with easy checkpoints that allow coaches and parents to track progress on paper and on the field.
